CARMONA, CAVITE – Team PNoy senatorial candidate Edgardo “Sonny” Angara on Friday toured the factory of Global Lighting Philippines (GLP) Inc, accompanied by its president, Henry Ting, here. GLP Inc. employs 420 workers aged 18-years old and above from Cavite and nearby provinces.
Angara, a representative of Aurora and chair of the House of Representatives’ committee on Higher and Technical Education, has advocated for laws meant to provide Filipinos employment opportunities through world-class education and technical skills development.
One of the bills he has authored is House Bill (HB) 2840 which mandates every province and city to put up at least one technical vocational and skills training center in their areas, in coordination with the Technical Education and Skills Development Authority.
Under Angara’s chairmanship, the House Committee on Higher and Technical Education has also approved HB 5915 or the Bill of Rights for New Graduates which will help new graduates find employment faster. It also mandates the government to support them by providing free NBI Clearance, Police Clearance, NSO Birth Certificate, TIN, and facilitate issuance of passports within one year of their graduation.
